ROLES AS A TRUSTEE
 
Trustees are empowered under the Education Act to set policy for the operation of all Public Schools in York Region:
  • I will work with the school administration and will provide support in order to have a safe learning environment for our students, more embracing of diversity issues in both our changing world and local community.
     
  • I value the diversity and multiculturalism of our community.
     
  • I desire to build partnerships with community and the York Region District School Board in order to improve the lives of our students.
WHY VOTE FOR ME...
 
  • 26 years of Service Experience in the Canadian Public School System. You need a candidate who can deliver that level of service for the next four years.
     

  • I am very knowledgeable of the relevant issues in York Region and can provide a high level of service right away and as such, I am the best choice for the position of trustee.

  • Strong belief in the importance of equity and diversity in the school system and translating these principles into tangible action.
     
  • Extensive experience in acting as a liaison between union and management in the Education sector.
     
  • High level of knowledge and experience dealing with the policies and procedures of academic environments.
     
  • Excellent interpersonal and team building skills, experienced and knowledgeable regarding modern operation and maintenance of the building and learning environment.
     
  • Very strong supervisory skills; ability to direct, guide and motivate staff.
     
  • A knowledgeable team player who is committed to providing a high level of service to the students, staff and the community at large.
     
  • Demonstrated a high standard and quality of work. I have earned a reputation for being diligent, honest, straightforward and effective when dealing with sensitive issues.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
 
Bachelor of Science, University of Kerala, India, Stationary Engineer 3rd Class, Facility Management Administration (FMA) four of seven courses completed, Human Resources Management Certificate, Advanced Human Resource Certificate(two of four courses completed), Micro computers, Microsoft Outlook, Tescor, Tac Control, Johnson Control, Enera Training, SAP R/3 Training Course PM-01-Core Users and part of Building Environmental System
 
  • 26 years of experience within the Canadian Public School System (Toronto District School Board)

  • Delivering property management (operations, maintenance and construction ) services to approximately 25 schools and facilities)

  • Responsible for an annual budget of approximately 10 million dollars

  • Ensure that school and centres are safe, clean and well maintained according to standards and building regulations.

  • Responsible for ensuring that an appropriate level of communication with the community is maintained with all who use the facilities, including but not limited to students, parents staff and the community at large

  • Leadership and direction of approximately 100 staff

  • Establish client requirements through meetings with principals and school superintendents

  • Services are provided in a timely manner

  • Optimize the use of allocated resources, including planning, delivery and evaluation of services.

  • Administer the acquisition, distribution and use of resources

  • Oversee the operations of building systems, including mechanical/electrical systems, building automation systems and energy conservation measures.

  • Report on conditions, activities and problems to management and respond to emergency situations.

  • Coordinate school building services

  • Provide leadership to a multidisciplinary team

  • Plan staffing needs and requirements to ensure acceptable service levels

  • Participate in the development and delivery of staff development programs

  • Administer collective agreements relating to the unions

  • Assure applicable work processes are documented and followed
